Several of our members collaborated together to create this cookbook, authored by our Sanskrit guru and food culture expert, Ed Hamann. He worked with Strong for Life coach Josh Wood to create high-protein versions of Indian recipes, as many of us in the order track our macros.
Welcome to Macro Masala – your guide to a balanced and delicious culinary journey tailored for fitness enthusiasts and fans of traditional Indian flavors. In this cookbook, we present a collection of Indian recipes that not only celebrate the rich and spicy flavors of the subcontinent but also align with your fitness goals. Whether you’re counting macros, tracking calories, or simply aiming for a more balanced diet, these recipes are thoughtfully crafted to nourish your body while tempting your taste buds.
This book makes no attempt at presenting Indian cuisines in their classical or traditional forms. It is a humble attempt to fit authentic flavors and techniques into the concept of meal prep. The recipes in these pages draw primarily from the familiar cuisines of North India and prioritize lean meats, a variety of carbs, and significantly reduced oils and fats. Designed for simplicity and ease of use, the palette of spices has been kept to the essentials and most- if not all- of the spices used are widely available at supermarkets. Our hope is that this introduction to the basic techniques used to create and layer flavors in Indian cooking will inspire creativity in your meal prep.
